This is the book that I am about to start reading...I have heard great things, so I will let you know!

This is the sequal to "The Sparrow", which is also on this list. The story picks up after the disaster on Rakhat and sees the main character as a man spiritually and physically brutalized. He resigns as a priest and turns his back on God...except that God has a different plan for him. (*****)

This is one of the most unique books that I have read in some time! It is the weird hybrid of science fiction and spiritual awakening...or a spiritual journey set in the future! The author is an anthropologist and that background really helps create and exciting dynamic between civilizations. (*****)
Steven D. Levitt, Stephen J. Dubner: Freakonomics : A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
Another one that I have not read, but when I get my hands on it I will!
David Sedaris: Naked
Simply one of the funniest books ever written! (*****)

Uzz and Dr. D

Yep...that is the Uzz with none other than Dr. Dunkenstein himself...Daryl Dawkins!!! We had to shoot a meet and greet over in Dallas for a company and they brought Dawkins in as a guest speaker. While waiting for some people to come in and get their picture taken with him, I stood there and talked his ear off about the NBA and all the trivia I knew about him!
I was talking to Army of Mom about it today and she reminded me that Mini-Uzz got up close and personal with Dawkins when Mini-Uzz was about 2 years old. Pretty cool!!! He apparently told the crowd to stand back and for Army of Mom to "bring that baby to me!!!" He is too young to remember it, but she has pics of Dawkins holding Mini-Uzz!!!

And fyi...he may be the nicest pro athletes I have ever met...and trust me...I worshiped the guy when I was young!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Well its here again! It really seems like we just had Thanksgiving, but I'll take the calendar's word for it. I certainly have a lot to be thankful for...such as...

1. Being blessed by God on so many fronts.
2. Having the priviledge of raising my talented, albeit nerdy, son who brings happiness to me on a daily basis.
3. Being blessed with incredible friends and family that really do care about me.
4. Getting to do what I love for a living...though sometimes I wonder if I will ever sleep normally again.
5. Lastly, having my main fantasy football team at 9-2.

Honestly...

...I really have not had that much to say. Work has been in a true overload mode for over a month and I all I want to do when I get home is sleep. Lately, there are things I want to talk about and I think I actually will go back to a bit of a normal schedule, thus more blogging opportunities.

One thing...I really miss Stuff Portrait Friday...it really kept me focused on putting something up at least once a week:-) If anyone else has a photo oriented weekly thingy, then let me know!

I hope I did not lose the readers I had...I will try to get you back:-)

Yet ANOTHER song I discovered through a commercial! Her voice is impressive and the vibe of the whole CD makes it worth taking a shot on.

The new critics darlings are definitely an acquired taste, but the lyrics are highly literate, the songs are smart and the arrangements are delightfully quirky! Vampire Weekend certainly deserves the hype!

Another song I discovered from a commercial! This is that jaunty little number you hear in the new MacBook Air commercial...you can't help but smile:-)
