Yesterday was my son's first game of this season. We played a team that I think won every game last year, except when the tied us. Now if you saw this other team you would know why...they are all about six feet tall...ok that may be an exaggeration, but not by much. Anyway...our team has speed as its most effective weapon and they used it to win 2-1 over the much bigger (and frankly older) team!! It was a great game and our kids played incredibly well! Anyway...here are some pics...mainly of my boy:
Well here is Mini-Uzz running the gauntlet after the game. I always think this is a pretty cool thing to do for the kids and I am surprised other youth sports have not adopted this. He played pretty well and excited about the win! Of course he looks warm, but when I see this pic I think that he is on "woods patrol" like Joaquin Phoenix in "The Village"...just an observation!
Here is a nice ultra-closeup of the Mini-Uzz! I swear that kid has a face that will let him get anything! He proved it last night when we went to an event I was shooting and people were just standing line to give him free stuff! I think its the eyelashes!
To give you a visual of how big this other team was...I present this picture! Our kid in yellow is one of our bigger kids and, as you can see, Shawn Bradley over there was larger than life!
One more for the road! This is just a good action shot! Our guy was running like a crazed Michael Johnson out there and was quicker than their 7 footer! Anyway...it was a great game on windy day!
I love the pics. The one with "shawn bradley" actually shows the tallest kid on our team! That shows you how much bigger these behemoths were than our boys! And, we beat them 2-1. Nanny nanny boo boo!!! I love it. We even lost our two best players over the past two seasons!!!
Anyway. Not that I'm a proud momma or anything. I did have to laugh that the best action shot of Pickle is him running through the high fives at the end of the game. Ha. Even Coach (Army of Dad) said he played well this game. Only got fussed at once for being out of position.
He's a cutie!!! great pics, as always!

My hat's off to ya about being at your kid's soccer games.
I have a secret over the years in that I'm soooo glad none of my sons had a serious interest in team sports.
I was never good at them myself, and didn't really want to cultivate enthusiasm for the comaraderie of other moms in the same position.
However, if photo ops like this are the result, bring it on!

oh, the poor kid is screwed in this household. Me and the Mr. are both GIANT sports fans and so is Uzz. So, if he doesn't like sports, he is doomed. I fear that he'll be a band dork or something and I'll have to feign great interest in clarinets and those little wooden things you have to lick before you can play them.

LOL for AoM! That's real close to what I have! only it's a guitar. I could buy a month's groceries for what goes out for strings and cables and woofers for the amps.
Oldest son was a Thespian in high school--so I helped with sets and costumes.
Middle son is in college, a Math major. I remember one field trip to hear a guest lecture about 3 hours away.
We get our exercise with bicycles. There's a great paved path park/shortcut which follows an old railroad right-of-way.

MrsDof - You want to hear something funny? I was/am the following in school and out:
Thespian - not only an actor, but I got every lead role in every school play for YEARS...ended getting kicked out because I told the drama coach she needed to learn her craft better.
Photography - After getting kicked out of drama I ended up in Yearbook and Newspaper and picked up my first camera...within 3 months I had won Best of Show for Landscape photography at a national competition at East Texas State University...I was hooked and its what I do for a living now!
Music - There may be bigger music nuts, but I don't know them. I have thousands of CDs and over 15,000 songs on an external hard drive!
Sports - I am a walking encyclopedia of sports trivia...scary some of the things I know about it.
In addition to all this, I know computers, psychology, sociology and history well enough that I think I could teach!
That said, our poor kid has a lot of influences and that suits me just fine:-)

Well to be fair he got fussed at one other time when he was waving at the CareFlight helicopter instead of paying atention to the game.
That said, he really did play well.
